As mothers, there may be nothing more we need than a daily refreshing.
I get it!
There are so many things on our plates, screaming for our attention—including our children—that it can be hard to get a thought in edgewise let alone a refreshing.
But there are so many reasons why having that daily refreshing, AKA spending time in the word of God, is so important and below I have outlined 4.
1st reason tired mammas need a daily refreshing: Because most of the time we barely make it to the next day without needing to be charged again
I don’t know about other mothers, but speaking from experience, I feel like I barely make it to the next day, let alone through the day I’m currently in.
As mothers so many demands are put on us in one day: All the feeding, all the changing of diapers, all the touching, holding and cuddling. By the end of the day it’s no doubt we are exhausted.
Spending a daily refreshing in the word of God—getting that little nugget of encouragement—is oftentimes what I need to get me to the next day.
2nd reason tired mammas need a daily refreshing: Because it’s something to look forward to
Being a mother, and doing what we do best—caring for the little people in our lives—spending time in the word of God is something we can look forward to.
For me I associate my morning cup of coffee with spending time in the word because that is when I spend time with God.
I look forward to my morning cups of coffee and I look forward to spending time in the word.
3rd reason tired mammas need a daily refreshing: It’s something to keep us going
As a mother, especially when I go to church, I am so busy making sure my kids are sitting still and being quiet that it’s easy to wonder why I even go—why I even try.
See, Sunday Morning Chaos for more on the joys of bringing toddlers and a baby to church on Sunday morning!
It’s on those days though that when I do look up and am able to think clearly for a few seconds, that I hear exactly what I need to hear.
Spending time in the word of God as a time of daily refreshing is those moments.
It’s coming up for air and letting God speak to our heart.
4th reason tired mammas need a daily refreshing: Because our kids will benefit from it
I don’t know about you, but I by no means am a perfect mother.
I loose my patience, yell at my kids more than I’d like, and feel like a failure because of it.
First off, if my life sounds a lot like yours—you are not a failure.
We’re raising little ones and we’re learning. We’ve never done this before.
Second, spending time in the word as a time of daily refreshing, especially in the morning with that cup of coffee, can steer our day in the right direction. Remind us of what is important, and allow the Lord to minister to our weary hearts. Not only is our attitude and outlook with our children affected, but our children see this time set aside for the Lord, and they begin to learn what is important.
As weary mothers, there are innumerable reasons we need a daily refreshing.
My biggest reasons—I’m just so tired and I don’t know if I can go on.
But there it one who has overcome the world, and he just so happens to want to romance us each and every day our lives.
Let us take a moment, this day, to spend time with him!
